Cal: Will play a vital role in the success of the team.
Cross Country: Selected to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's men's Division I All-Academic team...ran in two races in 2006...crossed the finish line at 24:38 at the Stanford Invitational and placed 31st...came in 20th at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships...finished 55th at the NCAA West Regional.
Track: In 2007, PRed in the 1500-meter (3:51.61) at the Jim Click Shootout and 5000-meter (14:03.86, ninth all-time at Cal) at the Stanford Invitational...during indoors, PRed in the 3000-meter (8:05.25, third all-time at Cal).
High School: Placed 27th at 2004 Footlocker Cross Country Nationals and second at the Footlocker regional meet...in 2005 at Logan HS, posted PRs of 4:12.39 in the 1600-meter and 8:21.75 in the 3000 (nationally ranked)...as a junior, won the state cross country and 3200-meter titles...clocked a career-best time of 8:52.41 in the 3200 as a junior.
Personal: His brother, Giliat, was an All-American in the 5000m for Cal in 2005...father is Berhane Mehari and mother is Genet Waldemariam...undeclared major.
